ABOUT RE-MASTERING

Our re-mastering philosophy is to simply restore the basic recording as close to the original source as possible. The integrity of the original sound performance is always our top priority. Though we make every effort to eliminate extraneous hiss, we find some small amount of hiss less disturbing than stripping a recording of its sound transparency and vitality. We edit the acoustic patterns carefully on the basis of the original aesthetics. We do not create “pseudo stereo” sound or artificial reverb. We do not add compression or superimpose “modern soundscapes.”

We re-mastered the original MPS master tapes digitally at a 24 bit / 88.2 kHz level. We feel this is a better approach than using a sampling rate of 96 kHz. Our method creates a more transparent and smooth sound because it is a more conducive transfer to the regular 44.1 kHz Compact Disc standard.

For promising music our studio produces the highest quality true-to-the-original listening pleasure of these precious MPS recordings without any of the hi-tech sterility.
